Certain injuries are not appropriate for conservative management. At times, a surgical approach is required to address a painful joint, muscle, or tendon. Physical Therapy following a surgery is important for numerous reasons. Often a post-op protocol is issued by your surgeon that a Physical Therapist will help progress you along to aid in returning you to pain free function. It is also important to remember that while surgery corrects the site of injury, it does not always correct the original issue that caused injury in the first place. This is another area a Physical Therapist can be of value.
